Why does the business need you in it every hour of every day?

Most founders answer with reasons. Client trust, team direction, quality control. Those are real concerns. They are also the story we tell ourselves so we do not have to face the harder truth.

The harder truth is that most founders are not indispensable because the business needs them there. They are indispensable because they never built it to run without them. The business became a mirror of their working hours, and now they cannot step away because there is no structure to catch what they were carrying.

Dr. Caroline and I got into what changes when a founder decides that presence is a choice instead of a requirement. Setting intentions and writing them down. Building the morning routines and the shared toolsets that let a team operate without their founder in every conversation.

That is not glamorous work. It is what separates a business from a job you can never quit.
