Solpak Building - Day 10 of 14 : The Plate
Sep 28, 2018SHERPA. Quebec plates. "Je me souviens."
I got this plate when I started writing the book in French. The word just fit. My car bore that plate for a few years until I moved. Then it landed on a shelf in my office.
A few weeks later, a mom at my kids' school came up to me. She told me I had stolen her name. She was the real Sherpa. Carrying hockey bags and ballet equipment everywhere for her kids. She was not wrong.
That is the thing about the word. It means something different to everyone. But the core is always the same. Carrying the load. Showing the way. Walking alongside someone through terrain they have never crossed before.
That is what I kept doing for other founders. Guiding. Diagnosing. Walking alongside. Not ahead, not behind. Alongside.
The plate sat in my office for years before Entrepreneur Sherpa existed. Years before the coaching. Years before any of it. A reminder that someday I would build the thing it represented.
If there is an idea following you around, pay attention. It is not random. It is not distraction. It might be the most honest signal you have about what you are supposed to build next.
What idea has been following you?
