From Mentee to Chief Mentor

I was a mentee twice before I ever became a mentor.

The first time I was a young founder trying to get Solpak off the ground. The second time I was further along but stuck somewhere I could not see clearly on my own.

Both times, a mentor changed what happened next.

In 2019, I started giving back the same way it had been given to me. I joined Réseaux as a mentor for the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

This month, Réseaux announced that I would take on the role of Chief Mentor.

The role is not about giving more advice. It is about making sure the mentorship cell here keeps working. Recruiting good mentors, pairing them well with entrepreneurs, and making sure the service is known by the people in this region who could use it most.

The data on this is clear. Seventy percent of mentored entrepreneurs make it past the five-year mark. That is twice the rate of entrepreneurs who go it alone.

Mentorship is not a luxury for entrepreneurs. It is what closes the gap between an idea and a business that lasts.

Grateful to Réseaux, to Francine St-Denis and her team, and to every mentor who has ever shared time and experience with someone trying to figure it out.
