Workspace - Day 13 of 14 : The Chairs
Sep 28, 2018Two white chairs. A small table. A glass of water. No screen in sight.
This is my home office. No clients sit here. But my wife does. My kids do. Friends do. Some of the simplest conversations happen in these chairs. Some of the deepest ones too.
This corner is not for work. It is for thinking.
Behind the chairs is a photograph I took while hunting in Florida. I got lost in the savannah-looking wilderness and stopped to take the shot. Trees barely visible through the fog. I love getting lost in the woods. Something about it resets my head in a way nothing else does.
I hung it here because it reminds me that clarity does not come from more information. It comes from stillness.
When I coach entrepreneurs through the Sherpa Method, the first thing I notice is how few of them have a space for thinking. They have desks piled with monitors. They have standing desks and whiteboards. But they do not have a chair where they can sit and be quiet.
The best decisions I made for Solpak did not happen at a desk. They happened in moments like these. Away from the noise.
Do you have a thinking spot? Where is it?
