Workspace - Day 10 of 14 : The Guitar
Sep 28, 2018I do not play well. I play anyway. That is the point.
This guitar is more than 30 years old. I bought it for myself when I was 20. It was the first real gift I gave myself with my own money.
It sits next to my desk. Most days I pick it up at the end of the day. A few minutes. No audience. No purpose. Just me and a guitar that has followed me for three decades.
Not everything has to be optimized. Not everything has to produce a return. Some things exist just to remind you that you are a person, not a machine.
I spent years turning everything into a system. That is how I built Solpak into a self-sustaining business. Systems are powerful. But if you systematize everything, including yourself, you lose the thing that made you start in the first place.
The guitar is the opposite of a system. It is imperfect. It is slow. It does not scale. And that is exactly why it belongs next to my desk.
What is your version of the guitar? The thing you do badly but love anyway?
